The Island Inn

Bring snacks and make sure you have enough gas, since nearby restaurants and gas stations don't stay open late. The island isn't very populous, so plan with that in mind. Even so, we had a lovely stay. The owners were really nice, and so was the cat. Breakfast was fresh and hot, prepared and served by the owners, and I had a couple of great conversations with them. The location was pretty good.

The guest lounge was cozy, with tea, coffee, board games, cards, and books to use. The place isn't fancy, but it has a lot of charm. After my Sunday morning coffee on the deck, with Spike and some duck visitors, Tracy made me a delicious bacon and eggs breakfast. I was in town for Keltic Colours and was lucky to find a room. It was just a bedroom with a shared bathroom, but it worked perfectly for me as a solo traveller. Mike, Tracy, and Spike, the very sweet resident cat, were all so welcoming and kind. The rooms and bathroom were very clean. There’s no AC, though that wasn't an issue during my October visit. I booked the first available place I found, and I'm so glad it was the Island Inn. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Ingonish!

Breakfast was made to order, bacon and eggs, and they also offered tea, games, and use of the living room. The rooms were clean and met all our expectations. We stayed here during our Cabot Trail drive, just outside the visitor center when driving counter clockwise. There seemed to be lots to do nearby, but a rainstorm kept us from exploring, which was down to the weather. The balcony looked impressive, with chairs where you could enjoy the great view, but of course it was raining. I'd recommend staying here.

The owners and staff were so considerate and kind. They made accommodations for my father, who was feeling unwell on the day we stayed. The rooms were great, breakfast was good, and I'd gladly come back.
