Hospitality Inn

I booked through the booking.com app because I needed to bring a friend from Surrey to Kamloops for an appointment. She was recovering from surgery in Vancouver earlier that month, and I’d picked her up for the trip. Traffic was terrible, so I messaged the inn to say we’d arrive late. When we got there, the front desk was closed. I called the number on the door, and the woman said they close at 9pm and that the hours were on their website. I admit I hadn’t seen that, but I explained I had a booking and asked if I could just get the key. She was rude. Luckily, another place took us in, since my friend couldn’t sleep in the car after her surgery. I wish the woman had been kinder. They said they’d received my message but never replied to tell me they were closed then, so I didn’t think there’d be a problem.

What you get is completely opposite to the pictures online. Most of the buildings were boarded up, and only a few seemed functional, if you can even call them that. There were homeless people camped in the parking lot and in abandoned rooms, with garbage scattered all over the area. An absolute disaster. If negative stars were possible, I’d give them.

I’m writing because there are so many bad reviews and I wanted to share my honest experience. You book this place to save money, and I’ve stayed in several cheap hotels. This one isn’t bad. The outside isn’t attractive, to put it kindly, but the rooms are spacious, the beds very clean and comfortable, and the TV works fine without any fuss. The view from the backyard is pretty awesome too. The bathrooms could be cleaner, and there isn’t much hot water, but for a quick stay it’s far from bad. It was a pleasant surprise compared with other budget hotels, though expectations matter. I’d come back if I wanted to save money on a vacation, for a shorter stop.

This is the worst and most upsetting place I’ve rented in Canada in 15 years. There was no ceiling light, just two lamps. The top sheet looked okay, but the bottom one seemed neglected, and I found a strange wine-like stain on the bedding. The bathroom was filthy and in terrible shape, with a very old tub, last-century floor tiles, and the ugliest, worst-finished walls I’ve ever seen. Extension cords were everywhere, powering basically every electrical item in the room, and the air conditioner was held together with duct tape. The outdoor pool didn’t even have water in it. Honestly, it’s hard to believe this place is still allowed to operate. Don’t stay here. Sleeping in your car would be better.
