We drove four hours for the restaurant’s escargot and crab cakes, but the menu had changed and the food was nothing special. Our waitress paid attention to my husband and acted as though I wasn’t there. It was rude, and we won’t be back or recommend the place. They should update the menu online.

The patio by the water is beautiful, and the food was delicious. Service wasn’t especially quick, but that’s okay if you’re there to take it easy and enjoy a meal.

We had a reservation four days ahead for our Valentine’s Day visit to the Moose, and were still disappointed. We had a big group, but the service was horrible and unprofessional. Our server, Shannon, didn’t seem able to handle a large table. The attitude was hard to put up with, and the food was mediocre. I hope the next visit is better.

Our cottage plans fell through, leaving my sister and me without a place to stay on September 8th. We went to the Bobcaygeon Inn for dinner while trying to find somewhere to book, and told our waitress, Shannon, what had happened. She found us a room and even brought the key over to our table. She was so helpful and concerned. The room was clean and quaint in a lovely way, with a beautiful view of the water. Everyone at the Inn, including the owner, was kind. Our cottage was sorted out the next day and we got a refund for that first night, but I’d happily stay at the Inn again. Shannon especially made us feel looked after. We were in the Bobcaygeon area from September 8th-11th, 2025.

We were 10 people hoping to try the chef’s Jerk menu on Sunday at 5pm, and the food was enjoyable once we were seated. Some choices had sold out, though there were plenty of empty tables. The service person’s manner improved when it came time to tip. Thanks to the chef and the younger staff member who came over to adjust an umbrella. The start was rough. Two staff greeted us in an unfriendly, confrontational way. The Moose doesn’t take reservations and, we were told, couldn’t seat a group of 10 together unless everyone arrived at exactly the same time because of high demand. They even joked that people say they’re parking when they’re really shopping in Bigley’s. When we all arrived within 10-15 minutes, they still wouldn’t combine a table of 6 and one of 4, saying we’d complain about the sun next. We were told to move tables as people showed up. The mismatch between the menu’s theme and the staff’s attitude was hard to miss. I hope the chef finds a place that values word of mouth.
