Traveler's Inn

A handy stop around Kenora on a trip across Canada. The staff were really nice, the rooms were clean, and pets were welcome. For what it cost, it was worth it, and I'd recommend it.

The room was freezing and stank like a cigarette ashtray. The bathroom gets a 2 at best, and the beds are a zero. I'll give the shower 10 stars, though. Ask me for photos, they don't clean under the beds, in the shower, or in the fridge.

The beds seem fine, but after a long day on the road the room didn't feel comfortable or relaxing, and it costs a lot for what you get. There was just one towel bar under the shelf where the towels were kept, so nowhere useful to hang them to dry. Snow came in on our boots because there was no rack or mat, leaving the floor wet. We used paper towels to get up some of the slush and grit, and found the floor was already pretty dirty. There was a little round table and two chairs, but no counter or other spot to put things. The walls were so thin I could follow the conversation in the next room. Lighting was one harsh overhead fixture and a tiny bedside lamp. I hadn't even been there 15 minutes when I wrote this. Maybe okay for one night.

We were tired and sore from travelling, and we're both over 70, so having to walk between the motel sections was a pain. We arrived at one of the two motels without realizing there was another section, and there wasn't any desk or office, just a phone number posted on a window. The man who answered had a heavy accent that was hard to understand, and told us to go across the road and farther down to his other motel section. We paid too much for one night there, then had to walk back to the room we'd registered for. The air conditioner was really loud, but we needed it. We won't stay here again.
