The central location and helpful staff were the bright spots. The rest was a letdown. The bed was hard, and the oversized pillows felt like stone. The toilet was blocked and I had to unclog it, while the bathroom sink barely drained. The TV wouldn't connect to the internet, and I couldn't find a kids' channel. Breakfast was especially disappointing: a box with yogurt, sweet applesauce, a cupcake, juice, and one or two eggs. It was all sweet, like a kids' snack box. They could at least include bread or offer a sandwich. The eggs were boiled so long they had turned green. Parking at the hotel also costs extra.

For the price and location alone, I could have given this place five stars. The surprise was parking: it cost almost a quarter of the room price. When I booked online, I saw that parking was available, but nothing told me it would be so expensive. As a traveler, I felt cheated.

The waterfront location right in downtown is the only thing I liked. I came in late after about eight hours of driving, exhausted, and chose the hotel because its price and location looked good and the reviews were positive. I called first, and a woman on the phone said I would need to give them $100 because I didn't have a credit card. That seemed strange, so I went over to ask. It turned out she was a trainee, which wasn't her fault, and the actual rule was that guests without a credit card couldn't book a room. I still decided to try. After eating, I booked a downtown-facing room through a travel site and returned, only to be told that without a credit card I couldn't stay. I'd already paid, and they still refused me service. I was furious. Then I had to contact the travel agency for a refund and do more driving the next day. I ended up trying the Super 8 up by CFB Kingston. It cost a few dollars more, but the service was flexible and the rooms were delightful. I wrote a more detailed review there.

This was my second stay, and the rooms were clean and the lakefront ones beautiful. What impressed me most was the honesty of the staff. We accidentally left valuables behind, which would have been easy for someone to pocket, but they kept them safe. We called and picked everything up two days later without any trouble. Thanks to Debra and the staff for helping us. My only suggestion would be a better breakfast, or taking $10 off the room, but we weren't staying for the free breakfast anyway. I'd recommend this as a simple hotel.

We stayed two nights and won't be coming back. The staff were rude and unhelpful, and when we tried to talk to them, they ignored us and didn't even acknowledge what we'd said. There were people smoking cigarettes and cannabis right in front of the entrance, so guests had to walk through the smoke coming and going. We also found a condom in our bedroom, which made it seem the room hadn't been cleaned properly. We visit Kingston often, but I can't recommend staying here.
