The front desk staff were always friendly, and the fitness room was decent, with three treadmills, an elliptical, a seated bike, a bench, a few weights, and a cable machine with attachments. The rooms were generally clean, but the bathroom sink and tub drained very poorly. We asked several times to have the pool warmed up. It was at 79, though before booking we were told it stayed at 84 or 85. The pool deck was disgusting, with bandaids, chewed and squashed food, and clumps of hair all over it. I showed them videos of the mess in hopes they'd improve the standards. The pool water felt oily, and the hot tub was closed. Food at the bistro "restaurant" was also way overpriced. It was a nice enough stay, but I won't be back.

The front desk staff used to be outstanding, which was one reason I kept coming back. Most of them have left, though, and after more than 100 stays over the years, I've decided that being a Marriott property isn't enough to keep me here. The place has gone downhill over the last couple of years, and health and safety need to come first. Recently, stains in the sink grossed me out. Looking around the bathroom, I found hairs and what looked like used tissue under the sink, so I wiped down every surface I might touch with Lysol wipes. Stains in the sink and shower drains showed up in more than one room. There are other problems: old curtains with seams coming apart let light through, the mattresses are so lumpy that a good night's sleep is nearly impossible, and the TVs are old, small, and limited. Some TVs have started to be upgraded, but the new ones lack the standard Marriott interface, so there's no streaming. Furniture in most rooms is beat up and damaged. The pool and hot tub had mechanical problems, though those seem to be fixed now. With a waterslide, the pool isn't a good choice for adults traveling without kids. I'd also avoid the first floor unless you don't mind kids constantly running along the hallway. I've preferred Marriott to Hilton, but I won't be staying here anymore, at least not in Kingston.

The woman who checked us in was lovely, and the room seemed reasonably clean, but it was in rough shape. The shower needs new grout, some plugs and chargers didn't work, and the shampoo was nearly gone while the conditioner and body wash were empty. The hot tub in the pool area wasn't working either. On our second night, guests nearby let their children run between rooms past midnight. Doors kept banging because they had latched the deadbolts so they could come and go without the doors locking. There was loud music and shouting, including from adults. We went out several times to ask them to quiet down, then called the front desk for help, but no one answered. It snowed heavily that night, and the plow driver seemed to be racing through the parking lot. As we walked to our car, he nearly backed over us and we had to dash out of the way. With so many hotels in the immediate area, we'll try another one next time, and hope they enforce basic courtesy among guests.

A comfortable, clean stay with the feel you'd expect from Courtyard. My king room had plenty of space, a comfy bed, a good work area, and a nice couch. The staff were friendly and the rates were good. It's right off the 401, handy for a stopover, and about five minutes from downtown. There was lots of free parking and EV charging. My go-to when I'm in Kingston.
