Lake Louise Inn

The bed and pillows were a little lumpy, the rooms felt dated, and in the mornings you could hear snowboarders getting ready through the walls when the resort opened. Maybe a top-floor room would help, though experiences may vary. It’s a good hotel, with a pool, restaurants, washing machines, and a convenient location near the ski resort. Some rough edges gave it a budget feel during my three-night stay.

The service was good, and the place is very close to the slopes. Beyond that, the rooms look like they’re from the early 80s and haven’t been renovated. The on-site restaurant was awful: my burger tasted like some kind of paste pressed into a patty and grilled, for 28.00. They did remove it from the bill when I complained, but it’s outrageous if they think that quality is acceptable and keep serving it. If all you need is somewhere to sleep after skiing and you’re fine with almost average, it’ll do. Being close to the slopes is about all it has going for it.

We had a lovely anniversary stay in a spacious, cozy one-bedroom apartment that came fully equipped. The hotel surprised us with a thoughtful card and chocolates. It’s in a quiet spot, within walking distance of the visitor center, shops, and places to eat. Highly recommended!

The views from our room were great, and the drive to the slopes was short and convenient. Restaurant and breakfast staff were very helpful. I’m giving it three stars because management charges for water, with no bottles provided in the rooms. That seems ridiculous for a ski inn. Buying water at reception means waiting in the same long line as guests checking in, which can take ages. Who doesn’t provide a complimentary bottle of water for people staying to ski?
