Post Hotel & Spa

The setting is magical, with great views, near everything but away from the crowds. There’s a little ‘village’ about a five minute walk away for food, books, and gear, and the ski shuttle up to Lake Louise ski station is great. The English and Australian crew are stellar, and the service is simple and nice. The hotel sits in the valley below Lake Louise ski station, on the opposite hill from Lake Louise Lake. It’s a mix of motel near the highway and an old, charming lodge, more of a bygone magic experience than a luxury Relais Chateaux. The rooms are very run down. I agree with other reviews that service is too laid back for a Relais Chateaux, and staff lack basic training if that’s the kind of hotel they want to be. It was hard to get useful advice about local activities or hikes, and an on-site specialist would help. The dining room is charming but disappointing, with insane prices. Their Outpost pub is a better choice for quality, price, and service. Good overall management and updates could bring the place back to the level it had a few years ago and make it worth the price and reputation. Keep expectations lower and enjoy the views.

Dinner was a standout. The Deep Sea Scallops were unforgettable, the Alberta Wagyu was rich and beautifully done, and the Truffle Cavatelli was indulgent. The wine pairings were thoughtful, and the wine expertise felt world-class. Live piano made the meal even more memorable. We chose the Post Hotel & Spa for our 24th wedding anniversary. I’d photographed a wedding there years ago and knew I wanted to return as a guest. The alpine setting in the heart of Lake Louise is peaceful and scenic, with an easy elegance. Back in the room, relaxing beside a real wood-burning fireplace felt cozy and timeless. The pool, whirlpool, and sauna were quiet, well-kept, and restorative after exploring the Rockies. Service was warm and attentive without being too much. It felt like a full experience, and we’ll absolutely be back.

The meal in the restaurant was spectacular, comparable to Michelin-starred meals, especially considering it was completely vegetarian. The dishes were creative and original, with flavor and textures that are unusual in vegetarian food. This was our first stay, but we’re already looking forward to many more. We loved the hotel, restaurant, facilities, and staff. Everyone was welcoming and helpful, the atmosphere was amazing, and even the other guests were just as friendly. Thank you!

The massage I had at the spa was excellent, and all the meals I ate there were delicious. The staff were exceptional, and the hotel was clean, well presented, and well maintained, with good amenities. It’s a lovely hotel in a lovely location. I did struggle with hallway noise each morning because I’m a light sleeper, and the room door didn’t seem to block much of it.
