Ramada Williams Lake

That shower was ridiculous. It had a clear glass panel instead of a curtain, covering about two thirds of what looked like it used to be a tub. To turn on the water, you had to step right under the falling water and fiddle with the controls until it was neither too hot nor too cold. Maybe that's how some showers in India are, though that doesn't match my own experience there. The elevator was slow and tiny. Two people with two bags filled it, so sometimes we had to wait through more than two tries to get on. The carpeting throughout looked as though it had never been cleaned, and the hotel was flat out dirty. The food service focused entirely on India cuisine. It wasn't bad, but I expect more variety from a hotel's food service, rather than one rather unique style. I'd thought Ramada was a reliably upscale hotel brand, but this one failed badly. There are two hotels less than a quarter mile down the road that are probably better.

We couldn't stay more than about five minutes. The room was uncomfortable and stuffy, with stains all over the carpet, and opening the window barely helped. It also looked like the kind of hotel where you might find bedbugs. For $200 a night, this was extremely disappointing for a Ramada. Williams Lake may not promise a five star stay, but this hardly meets the standard the brand sets. We moved to Best Western, where we could spend the night in a clean room that wasn't stuffy. We won't come back, and strongly recommend you don't stay here either. The trouble started as soon as we walked in: the air felt hot, humid, and overwhelmingly smelly. The elevator was out of order, which, based on other reviews, may have been a good thing. We hauled all our bags up four stories through an even smellier stairwell. The room layout made no sense, and it took us several minutes of wandering the halls to locate our room. Some numbers seemed to be skipped, with rooms tucked down random dead ends elsewhere on the floor. Please take this warning seriously.

We had a great stay and would come back. The staff were helpful and really friendly, and the room was spacious, clean, and had a very comfortable bed. Having a separate bedroom was a nice touch.

The location is nice and the staff were friendly, and check-in was quick. But the curry smell was overpowering. It got into the room carpets and carried all the way up to the second and third floors.
