Les Chalets Baie Cascouia

Our chalet was a great base for exploring from Lake Saint-Jean to Saguenay, and the area felt intriguingly far from urban life. Being right beside the lake was the best part. As the light and weather shifted from cloudy and rainy to bright sunshine, then into night, the view felt magical. The water was low enough for us to walk along the shore, too. We stayed out of season, and chalet #4 "Le Kim" was clean, well kept, and had a good lake view. The French-speaking owners live on site and were friendly and welcoming.

I’d be cautious about booking if your plans might change for a major reason. Our hockey tournament was moved to a different location by its organizers, and the owners were told four months ahead of time. Even with that much notice, they kept our money and didn’t reimburse us. The girls had been working and selling things to raise money for the tournament, so this felt like zero honor and zero empathy. Keeping the money from little girls like that is stealing.

We found this place at the last minute when we arrived by snowmobile, and what a great surprise. There was a delicious dinner waiting in our chalet. Rose-Marie was wonderful, had beer and pop available, and made us a great breakfast. She was patient with my grade 10 French. Merci!

The food was wow, and the owners were fantastic. Everything felt comfortable, and the rooms and whole place were beautiful. We had a wonderful stay and will be back!
