Motel Rive du Lac

For the price, getting a view of the river was decent, and the beds were clean and comfortable enough. The shower had good water pressure, too. We called first to ask about a room and were greeted by a friendly man when we arrived. He was ready for us, came back to see if we'd settled in, and showed us how the AC and windows worked. We also chatted with him when we went to look at the river. It's an inexpensive place to sleep, but it really needs more attention to cleaning. The floors, stove, fridge, and cupboards all need a good scrub. With a proper cleaning and some paint, this place could be a four-star hotel.

The morning view is pretty, and it's pet-friendly. But the beds are hard as a rock, the bathroom window lets the neighbors see in, and the AC blades have mold on them. The screen in the AC unit is really dusty, too.

The river is right there, and you can take a plastic stacking chair from outside your room and sit by the water when the weather cooperates. There's an SAQ and a Metro across the road. I stayed in the same room on both the way to Montmagny and the way back, so this is just about that room. For a housekeeping room, it was good value. The bed, desk, and bathroom were fine. The kitchen area looked dated, with cupboards that could use an update and a two-burner stove and oven that had seen better days, though I didn't need them. I didn't try the coffee maker, so I can only assume it works. Parking felt tight, perhaps because construction immediately to the east was taking up some of the parking area. WiFi was fine for browsing, but not so good for web conferencing, at least in my room. I usually camp on vacation, so a solid roof, an en suite bathroom, and WiFi already feel luxurious to me. Take that into account.

Even arriving after check-in time, I found my room open, and I had to leave before anyone would be up for check-out. The view from the room was priceless, even in the dark. It was my first time stopping here while traveling for work, and I'll be back. The room was the cutest, and the service was the best.
