Maison Sous L'Orme (La)

The host was warm and welcoming, and the house is clean and tidy. It’s very convenient for the ferry, which gives you an inexpensive walk-on trip to the heart of old Quebec City. We stayed one night, and I’d return. While booking, I mentioned it would be my 8 year old son and me. When we arrived, there was ninja turtle toothpaste waiting for us, a sweet touch. The building has lovely character, with brick, a porch, calm tasteful decor, and a mix of antiques and unobtrusive visuals. You get your own key to both the room and the house. Our room was clean, though the bathroom has been fitted into the available space instead of using a shared bathroom. That suited my preference, but it does take up room, and might not be ideal if you need to use the WC a lot with an upset tummy. That’s how it goes in most B&Bs. There’s a large garden for reading, and a big covered porch with views over the river to Quebec city. It was a lovely spot to watch a night of fireworks before bed. We weren’t sure what to expect, but every part of the stay turned out delightfully wonderful.
