Rivermount Motel Campground and RV Park

That fast-moving river was right outside the window, with a train passing behind it in the morning. Such a peaceful view. Our room was cozy and very clean, with cute little decorations, and the price felt fair. The hosts kept the outside lights on and stayed up to help us check in late, which made arriving feel safe and comfortable. Their great service started with the reservation call and continued through checkout. We’d gladly stay at Rivermount Motel/Campground/Restaurant again when passing through, and recommend it to friends and family.

Waking up to birdsong and spotting a family of deer on an evening walk around the property made the stay feel special. It had that camping feel, but with the coziness of a hotel. The views were amazing, and the price was really affordable. One of my best stays.

The bed was clean and the pillows were comfortable, but we left disappointed after paying $146cad and getting much less than on our previous visit. We came back because our first stay a few years ago was so good. It’s clear there are new owners, though I’m not sure when they took over, and they may still be getting things sorted. I don’t want to be too hard on them, but it would have been nice to get a lower price at check-in when we were told breakfast wouldn’t be served because the owners were on vacation. Call ahead to check whether free breakfast is available. I understand online listings may take time to update. The motel is old and dated, which we already knew and were fine with because of our earlier experience. Back then the owner was accommodating and the breakfast was really good. This time I had to clean several kitchen stains left by the previous guest. There was a very nasty used sponge, and no tea towel or drying rack, even though they charge a $25 fee if you leave dishes unwashed. I’d wash any dishes in the room before using them, to make sure they’re clean enough for you. The door had only a push-button handle lock, with no deadbolt or chain.

The wonton soup was a standout, and the beef with black bean sauce had loads of flavour. Everything we tried was delicious. Service at the Rivermount Motel Chinese food restaurant was friendly and quick. Highly recommend.
