Travelodge Lloydminster

The room’s AC hit 87 decibels whenever it kicked on, which was every few minutes. The Wi-Fi lasted 5-10 seconds before disconnecting, and the microwave had just one working button but didn’t warm anything. The bathroom sink had yellow globs in it, and the “clean” towels had dark finger streaks. The hotel smelled like an ashtray, even in the fitness room, where broken machines and parts were scattered over a filthy carpet. The pool, hot tub, and elevators were broken, and maintenance staff shouted obscenities at each other in the hallway. I’d be hard pressed to design a worse hotel experience. I may never stay at a Travelodge or in Lloydminster again.

The staff were rather rude when I asked questions, and the pool needed a proper cleaning and major maintenance. The rooms themselves weren’t terribly dirty, but the water damage throughout the building was baffling. I can only imagine how much mould is hiding behind the walls. Walking in, the instant mix of mould and cigarette smells was absolutely foul. I’ll never stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

We booked a deluxe queen room that was shown with a lounge, but our room had two queen beds and no lounge. Is that misleading? The air conditioning filters weren’t cleaned either. The cleaning staff were very friendly, and the ladies in the breakfast area were pleasant, but the photos on the booking site didn’t match what we got. On the first night, our heater didn’t work in the first room. We were moved to a second room close to the boiler, where the walls vibrated, then had to move again, all in one night. It was after 11:30 p.m. when we got to the third floor. The next night we went out and came back to find the only lift in our block wasn’t working. The person at the counter told us to use the stairs, even though my partner has asthma and weak knees. Climbing two sets of stairs wasn’t good for us. The hotel needs a lot of maintenance. Save your money and spend a bit more across the road. We won’t return, and we’ll let the Wyndem group and Booking.com know in our ratings.

We come to Lloydminster every Christmas as a treat and to have some fun, but the pool is so cold it might as well be outside in December. There were no towels to dry off with. I told the front desk and she just shrugged. The pool area needs a good scrubbing and disinfecting because it’s visibly dirty. The whole place smells like smoke, and our room was still cold even though the thermostat was turned all the way up when we arrived. I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here. There are better hotels in Lloydminster.
