The Mariner King Inn

The staff were friendly and helpful, and everything about our stay at the Cranberry Suites on July 16 was wonderful. The room had been completely upgraded and felt brand new inside. Breakfast impressed us too, especially the fresh baked goods. The baker was friendly and pleasant to chat with, and the scones and fresh muffins were especially good. The inn is right in the heart of Lunenberg, so we could easily walk to most of the places we wanted to see. Prices were very fair, and we highly recommend it.

The room was comfortable, and the bathroom looked newly renovated. The inn has a cozy historic feel, though the shared area seemed a little worn and the carpets were dirty. It was very warm when we arrived, and at least one window looked out onto the street. We took down the creepy old portrait of a boy before bed so we wouldn't wake up and see him staring back at us. Breakfast was simple, with bagels, bread, fruit, juice, cereal, cold cuts, and cheese. There’s parking out front, but the stairs to the living suites are steep. The front door locks after 5 pm, so check in before then. Since the building is old, you can hear people walking around.

The room and facilities worked really well for one person in our group with mobility issues. There was a walk-in shower, a tall toilet, disabled parking, and an elevator. The room was also extremely comfortable and had more thoughtful touches than we’ve found at many other inns and hotels. It’s a beautiful hotel in an exceptional location, with laundry, a parlour, and a sunny conservatory where the included breakfast is served.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and there’s free parking. We also liked the DVD player built into the TV and the DVD library in the lobby. Our room was spacious, modern, comfortable, and well equipped, with a mini-bar and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was a European-style buffet with meat, cheese, fish, fruit, bread, and other items. We’d definitely stay again if we return to Lunenburg.
