Travelodge by Wyndham Marathon

The rooms felt new, clean, and modern, and we had a great stay. A special thanks to the manager, Kirit, who caught that our booking app had reserved two rooms instead of one. He told us at check-in, suggested we contact the app’s technical support, and kindly canceled the extra room without charging us. The staff were attentive and the service was excellent. Highly recommend!

I had to change my reservation a few days before arriving, and that went smoothly. Check-in was easy, and the customer service has been friendly so far. I’m staying here now and everything’s been great. Parking is fairly easy, and the room is clean and quiet. I booked a double queen, with a small dining/work table, microwave, and fridge, so I’d be fine staying longer if needed. The AC and heat don’t seem restricted to certain temperatures, which matters to me since I run hot and like the room cool at night. Hot water takes a minute, so in colder weather give it a little time to warm up. One change I’d suggest is the lighting. The bright white-blue bulbs feel harsh at night, especially when you’re trying to relax or get ready for bed. It gives the room an industrial, warehouse feel. Even swapping the bedside bulbs for a warmer, dimmer amber LED would help, while still being economical and long lasting. With softer lighting, this place would be an easy 5/5.

Kirit greeted us warmly at the front office one weekday afternoon and explained the amenities, including that breakfast isn’t served on site. He also went over the parking and the hotel layout, with a newly built separate second wing. This Travelodge serves the small community as well as people traveling long distances on highway 17. The two wings are side by side, and a Tim Horton is only about 25 steps away, which was incredibly handy. There are three parking areas. The easiest one to use is the three space lot between the wings. Our room was quiet, clean, and well arranged, with a larger than usual washroom, plenty of floor space, enough toiletries, and lots of towels. Each wing has a tea, coffee, and juice area by the front door, and the hallways are very well lit. After driving for many hours on consecutive days, we especially appreciated the quiet. A luggage trolley would have helped, since the hotel doesn’t have one.

A clean, quiet, modern room, and a good overnight stop on the Superior Circle Tour. There’s no breakfast, just coffee and juice. Try A&W if you want breakfast!
