Hat Motel

The outside looks rough, but inside it’s clean and functional. The price is just right. I stayed one night, and the lady was pleasant and professional. She had no problem with my money, and I got my refund. I’d recommend it for long term guests such as out of town workers, or locals who can’t afford rent.

I was impressed by the appliances in my suite: a full size fridge, stove and oven, plus plates, pots, and cutlery. The two beds had separate rooms. The place itself could be better, though. The shower was rusted or stained, and the blankets had cigarette holes and some stains. Management was friendly. Overall, it’s a good place to spend a night.

When I arrived around 5-6 pm, they told me they’d just rented the last room, even though I’d booked and paid. They said the problem was caused by the owner being in Korea. When I asked to use a toilet, they sent me to a bar down the street. Then I waited almost an hour to make sure I got the money I’d paid back. Badly organized, and the worst place I’ve ever visited. About the owner’s response: I know exactly where I was and exactly what happened. It was your business. I was refused access to a toilet. Do you seriously think I made all of this up?

Hat motel is one of the oldest motels in Medicine Hat, and I kind of like its vintage rooms. It’s a great option if you’re on a budget or don’t have a credit card. You can rent by the week or month too.
