Ranchland Villa Motel

This was such a bad motel it was almost funny. The room was rough, and the air conditioner may have worked, but it was so loud it wasn’t worth using. Avoid! The booking confirmation number wasn’t even recorded. The staff member spoke very poor English and said he had a better room for less than the one we booked online, which he probably rented to someone else. We paid by debit, then he came back saying he needed to run our credit card too. Communication was so difficult, but we agreed on the understanding we weren’t paying twice for one night, just leaving it for damages, I suppose. Then we were charged twice. After that, he came back asking for another $20 in cash and said we’d underpaid. So shady.

It was a very hot day and we just needed a place to rest. We booked ahead, but they couldn’t access the reservation, and there was nobody at reception, so we had to call. The room was small, which shouldn’t have mattered, but there was no AC in 30-degree heat. We tried to take a cold shower and couldn’t even get the water to turn on.

The main thing this motel had going for it was convenience. I stayed one night because I didn’t want to drive through fog after dark, and getting the room was quick. I had a single room with an okay kitchen; there were plates and bowls under the sink to use. The bathroom door wouldn’t close properly and kept getting stuck about an inch open. The rooms clearly aren’t cleaned often. There were barely any TV channels, but that’s what you get for $90. Checkout is at 11 a.m.

I stayed three nights in February 2023. This place suited a long trip when all I needed was a clean, comfortable room. I liked the quiet, undisturbed setting, and being right on the Strip made it easy to get around. The elderly couple at the front desk didn’t speak much English, but we managed to communicate with a translator on our phone. The room was clean and pet friendly. Actually, the beds were especially clean and comfortable, better than at many hotels. If you need a lot of service, this probably isn’t the right place. But if, like me, you value privacy and not being disturbed, and care most about cleanliness and comfort, it’s a great choice.
