Hampton Inn Toronto/Mississauga

I booked months ahead, then they cancelled less than a month before my stay, saying it was because of renovations. I spent over 2.5 hours on the phone with Choice hotels, and they wouldn't honor my booked rate at another location. Other reviews say some people were cancelled on the same day. Don't book here.

We were stranded in Toronto's suburbs at 10pm with two kids after the hotel cancelled our booking. At 5:30 that afternoon we'd called to confirm, and they said everything was fine and a late check-in would be okay, until 2am, the man said. When I arrived to get the keys, I was told the reservation had been cancelled at 6pm and there were no rooms. The attendant's half-hearted apology didn't help, and nobody offered to find us somewhere else. I asked why we'd had no warning call. He said the booking had no contact number, but the cancellation paper he gave me clearly had my phone number on it. There was no sensible explanation, especially since I'd confirmed earlier that day. I'm very disappointed and upset. I wouldn't recommend this hotel, and I'd tell people to book elsewhere. Don't risk getting stranded.

Everything I needed was there, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was very clean, and breakfast had lots of variety. The evening front desk receptionist was welcoming. The morning one wasn't, and could use some people skills.

It's been four months and I'm still waiting for the overcharge on my credit card to be returned. I've made many calls and sent even more emails. They say the refund was processed, but haven't provided a receipt, and the money still isn't in my account. The manager is conveniently never there when I call. Worst hotel experience I've had :(
