Crowne Plaza Moncton-Downtown by IHG

We usually car camp and aren't picky about where we sleep. We came here for one night after staying at the Hyatt, and the difference in noise was striking. At the Hyatt you hear NOTHING unless someone is right by your door. Here, on the 6th floor, we could hear neighbors and LOTS of hallway noise, especially kids running around late or early. Someone we know stayed on the 2nd floor and heard plenty of the same noise. Children tried to get into her room through the shared door late at night, then were loud in the morning. Even outside sounds are much louder here. It's an alright place if all you need is a bed for the night. The hotel also felt oddly dry. If you have dry skin, psoriasis, or eczema, I would NOT recommend staying here, and I noticed my eyes feeling dry too. Our room seemed less cared for by the cleaners: the window looked like it might have had drips inside before, with what looked like salt stains, and the handwash pump didn't work, so we had to take the pump out of the bottle to use it. Our friend on the 2nd floor said her room was very clean and cared for, though she agreed about the noise. Kids will be kids and parents will be whatever, I understand that, but you'd think they might put guests with children on the same floors instead of spreading them around the whole hotel.

We had a wonderful time. The hotel was super clean, and the staff were very friendly. Our room had a small issue because no 2 queens were available, but they gave us 2 king rooms for the price of one room, so it all worked out. Baton Rouge was a really good restaurant and a nice bonus right there, so we didn't have to leave. The pool, hot tub, and steam room were so nice. There were kids' hockey teams staying, which was kind of annoying, but they were just having fun. My only complaint is the parking: it isn't free, which it should be for the price, and the lot is small for a hotel this size, so it's very congested.

The downtown Moncton location is great, with good food, clean rooms, and exceptional service. The staff have been lovely and welcoming so far, and they all seem eager to help and accommodate guests. We got a personalized envelope slid under the door with a welcome, contact details for Marc and Laura in case we needed anything, an invitation to their guest appreciation night, and a free appetizer for the hotel restaurant. Shout out to Leonardo, who I mention in the restaurant/food section of the review below. We'd definitely come back.

It's a great downtown Moncton location, close to everything. Checking in was a rough start: I was fourth in line, with several more people behind me, when one staffer left the desk and a manager, I believe, walked away too. The clerk who stayed was great but clearly overworked, trying to check in multiple people at once. The entrance wasn't ideal either, with just a couple of places to pull off the street and stairs to check in. I'm not sure where someone would find an accessible entrance. The elevator has Lobby, Ground, and 1st floor buttons, which is a pretty confusing decision. The room was nice enough, but the bed was hard as a rock and street noise was loud. I barely slept, and was glad it was only one night. At $16 a day, parking felt steep for such a small town.
