Midtown Motel & Suites

The staff were friendly, and the location made getting around easy. I only stayed one night in August 2024 while touring Brunswick, but the room had everything I needed. I also like being able to park right outside my room.

The room was tidy, and the shower had very good pressure. The toilet and fixtures were old, though they worked. I felt uneasy about leaving my car overnight because the Weldon area seemed sketchy, with many people who appeared to be dealing with drug addiction walking around, including in the parking lot.

I was wary after reading the negative reviews, but the stay turned out better than I expected, and I'd use the motel again for the price and location. The receptionist was patient and polite. My cheapest room with Wi-Fi came to 101 CAD after tax. The bed had no stains or bugs, though I found crumbs and dust underneath it. There was no sign of rodents. The carpet was clean, the microwave looked new, and the thermostat worked. The old AC was a bit loud. Furniture was dated, and the fridge didn't work very well. The room smelled like a typical motel, with industrial cleaner and laundry detergent. The walls were thin, so I could faintly hear neighbors, but I slept fine. The bathroom was clean overall despite old, cracked tiles. The tub, showerhead, curtain, sink, and faucets were clean, with no stains or stray hairs. Hot water worked fine, and shampoo, conditioner, and soap were provided. There was no toothpaste or tub drain plug, and the old faucets were a little finicky. Wi-Fi was fast enough for YouTube.

I wanted a budget place with a kitchen and no breakfast, and this motel suited that. The room was a good size and kept neat. During my two-week stay, though, it was cleaned only once, so room service was infrequent.
