APD Hotel

The room was clean and surprisingly spacious, with a little desk. The Black guy was cool and knew a lot about the area. For the price, I’d say it’s worth it, just don’t expect too much. I’d stay again.

The front desk staff member was rude and racist. When we arrived, the guy asked for ID and a $350 deposit. I handed over both, the transaction was approved, and he gave me a receipt. Two minutes later, he said he couldn’t let us check in because of some problem with the POS machine. That had nothing to do with us, but he still refused to let us in. He told us we could pee in the grass if we needed to and sleep in the chairs all night. He even asked if I knew English, although it’s my first language. This was one of the worst hotels I’ve been to. Don’t step foot here. It’s a waste of time and money. We’re getting a refund!

I stayed in Montreal in December 2024, and this was an affordable, comfortable option in a great spot for a winter getaway. It had what I needed for a pleasant stay, and the warm, helpful staff stood out from the start. They took time to suggest places around Montreal. The location was just steps from a subway station, with plenty of restaurants and a food court nearby. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and luggage storage was available. The overall feel was welcoming and focused on guest comfort. My room was a cozy place to come back to after the cold. The heating worked reliably, the bed was clean and comfortable, and the private bathroom was spotless with hot water. There was also a clean refrigerator that worked well, plus a microwave oven.

Most of the staff were nice, especially the Asian guy, but the man who checked us in was extremely racist and gave terrible service. I was trying to figure out how we’d get our luggage up to the fourth floor with no elevator, and he sarcastically said, “this is what we call STAIRS in english and this is DOOR in english,” as if I didn’t understand English. I’m East Asian, fluent in English, and speak it better than he does. I wanted to leave this here for other ethnic travelers. It’s surprising, since I’m pretty sure the hotel is run by an Asian guy, and this man’s condescending behavior makes me think he isn’t suited to work there. I also expected a cleaner room. It definitely wasn’t the cleanest, and there are plenty of better hotels around.
