Auberge & Hotel Montreal Espace Confort

We stayed four nights and five days in Montreal, and the location was fantastic, close to the metro and lots of good restaurants in the Latin quarter of old Montreal. The service was friendly, and breakfast was great. Our room was clean and had the necessities, though the floor felt a bit sticky and there was a slight smell of cleaning products. I'd bring slippers. For the price, it was a positive stay.

The staff were really friendly and accommodating, and the location made it easy to walk to Montreal's main tourist sights. Our room had a couch, TV, bed, toaster, and microwave, and was very well furnished. The place is affordable, though the exposed pipes and weathered walls made the room look a little unfinished.

The only real plus was the central spot on the bar street. We booked the Zen room, but it looked much older than the website photos, and the whole hotel felt old, neglected, and short on care or service. The bed was old, the toilet was in a closet with no vent, and the room smelled a bit. Its tiny window left it dim. Water drained slowly from the shower and had damaged the old, broken floor. The shower wasn't cleaned on day two, and the room wasn't cleaned at all on day three. It fell below what we expected.

The staff were really nice, and breakfast was good, with hard-boiled eggs, waffles, cereal, and cookies. The location was great. Our bed's sheets were too small and kept coming off, and nobody cleaned the room. When we asked for fresh sheets and towels, what we got was stained.
