Street noise from groups talking loudly outside came through at night, which I guess is expected in a university area. The bedroom is at the back, though, and solid wood interior doors helped block the sound. I slept well both nights despite jet lag. I was in Montreal for a last-minute work trip and was so glad I chose Castel Durocher. For the price of a hotel room, I had a gorgeous, spacious apartment suite with lots of charm and beautiful decor. A colleague saw it and wished he'd booked Castel Durocher too. It was spotless, and the flowers, fresh pastries, handmade Belgian chocolate samples, and cheese sampler in the fridge made me feel like long-lost family was hosting me. Sandrine and Vincent were lovely and made booking and arranging check-in and checkout easy. I tell my friends about this place whenever I hear they're visiting Montreal. I hope I can come back when I'm not traveling for work, to see more of the city and enjoy more of Castel Durocher's delicious chocolate.

The apartment felt like a little palace between McGill, Mont Royal, and the old centre. We stayed there over summer holiday with Vincent and Sandrine, who were such warm, welcoming hosts. You can relax at home in the lovely garden if you don't feel like going out. Sandrine was especially kind and thoughtful, always considering what would help her guests have a pleasant stay. I can definitely recommend the place.

I spent seven days in the Grand Suite at Castel Durocher on a business trip, and it was comfortable enough to feel almost like home. It's a whole apartment with a kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedroom, and outdoor area with its own entrance. The location is convenient for McGill, and you can walk to downtown, the Plateau, and Mont Royal. There's a Bixi bike stop nearby, and parking was available, though I didn't need it. The owners are incredibly accommodating. They're artists and Belgian chocolate makers from Belgium, and the apartment was nicely decorated and stocked with chocolate. It was cleaned daily, and soothing classical music was left on for when I got back. The kitchen had fruit, brie, coffee, tea, yogurt, juice, milk, cooking basics like oil, salt, and pans, plus fresh baguettes and/or croissants, pastries, or bagels each day. Thanks, Vincent and Sandrine. This will be my go-to rental on future Montreal visits, and I'd recommend it for business trips or families.

Really good place. I loved the service. Come here if you want to relax and be around good people.

We left in the middle of the night after only an hour. There were mosquitoes, dirt, and no real cleaning. Huge spiders and millipedes were throughout the house, and there was dust and mold in the beds and everywhere. The photos show the upstairs floor, where the owners live, not the place where guests stay. The fridge was covered with sheets of paper towels, and the stove was rusty. In the sink I found a millipede as big as a fork. The towels were worn out and seemed to come from the owners' house. The sheets were dirty, with hair and mold in the bed. You're expected to clean and change the beds when you rent, but dust covered everything.
