Delta Hotels by Marriott Montreal

The room was a good size and, thanks to my status, I was upgraded to the club level. The hotel is nice and conveniently located, and I had no other complaints. I did notice the carpet was clearly old and sticking up, as shown in the photo. I stayed two nights recently.

Marie-Josée (MJ) and her team were attentive and efficient all week, and their warm hospitality made a big difference. I stayed at Delta Montreal for a week and had a very good experience. The rooms feel a little dated, but they're spacious, clean, and comfortable. The beds and bedding were very clean and I slept well. My room also had a large balcony with good city views, making it feel even bigger. The food at Brasserie Milton was excellent. We tried the lamb rack, filet mignon, seafood linguine, tiramisu, chocolate mousse, and tarte tatin, and everything was very good. Marriott Platinum and above members get breakfast free, in the lounge on weekdays and the restaurant on weekends. Fairmont Bagels were offered in both places, a nice touch. The hotel welcomes dogs, and our pet had a toy and treat waiting in the room. There's a convenient mulch area for dogs at the Sherbrooke Street exit. The back entrance, accessible with your room key on level P, opens onto Sherbrooke Street beside McGill’s Campus 1 and La Citadelle residences, handy when visiting students. Solid service, good food, and thoughtful amenities. I'd recommend it in Montreal, especially for families or anyone traveling with pets.

For our hockey tournament, the downtown location wasn't a good fit. The rink was 35-40 minutes away each way, and on one snowy morning, poor city snow removal made the trip take 1 hour and 15 minutes. It could suit business travelers or visitors looking for attractions, restaurants, and public transit, though. Parking costs extra. If you drive a Toyota Grand Highlander or a similar-sized vehicle, be careful in the underground garage. I'd strongly avoid going below the second floor because the low clearance could damage antennas or roof components. Our package didn't include breakfast, so we paid separately. Lunch or dinner could mean a long wait, our order took close to two hours. The food was good, but the price felt high for what we got. The hotel isn't new, but the rooms were generally clean and reasonably spacious. The AC was too loud, and the property felt acceptable but not especially modern. Service seemed to depend on staffing and the time of day; most of our interactions were polite and professional. Overall, it felt expensive for what it offered and wasn't ideal for our needs.

The rooms and location were decent, but the hotel’s response to a parking charge was disappointing. At check-in, I specifically asked if parking was validated and was told yes, so we understood it would be covered. At checkout, we were charged $25 per night. When we explained the misunderstanding, the hotel wouldn't adjust the charge and said downtown Montreal parking isn't free and we should have known. Future guests may want to confirm the exact parking cost at check-in.
