We booked a “suite” for two people and paid $276, but were given a single room that was much smaller than the online pictures. The bathroom is shared. We had to leave after ten minutes and book somewhere else at the last minute because bugs were coming out of the bed and walls. We found bugs on our clothes afterwards. No refund was possible. The pictures online are old, from when the place was clean for the photos. Under the bed was dirty and the bedsheets were dirty too. The management called them summer bugs, but we didn’t see bugs anywhere else. When we came out to ask for help ten minutes after arriving, nobody was at the desk. This place shouldn’t call itself a “Hostel” or a “Hotel.” If you want to avoid getting sick, don’t go. Save your money for a better hostel. The management should take better care of the facility and post accurate pictures instead of making excuses.

We had a wonderful three-night stay and would come back. This is comfortable, clean, basic accommodation at a great price, rather than one of the higher-priced B&Bs with luxurious rooms and food. Our room upstairs was small but had a comfy bed, refrigerator, TV, free wifi, wardrobe, bedside table, alarm clock, and a key lock. The large common room had comfortable furniture and a huge television, and we spent time reading there. The bedrooms and bathroom are accessed from that room. The owner lives on the main floor and basement with his wife and young daughter. He’s friendly and speaks five languages. Because we were the only guests, the owner served breakfast. He said that in busy season, food is usually left on the counter for guests to serve themselves. Breakfast is available from 8 to 11 am in the dining area on the main floor. It was excellent: fried eggs the first day, crêpes the next, and an omelette on the third, plus bread and toast, croissants, yoghurt, apple, banana and orange, juice, tea, and instant coffee. A drip or pod coffee machine would be a nice addition. This is a “gite,” a kind of accommodation better known in France, like a B&B where breakfast may be self-catered. The gite has some parking, but we found plenty of free street parking. The door is locked at night, and we could get in at any time with the electronic lock code.

My friend and I visited gîte king hostel and didn’t find anything really bad. Everything was clean, and the owner was polite and flexible. There were some bugs in the room, probably because of the hot weather, but the next day the owner brought in an exterminator to treat it. After that, we didn’t see any more. I was happy with the visit and will come back to Montreal.

The host is friendly, and the place is clean. The washroom is shared. The only thing that could be better is the wash basin, which drains slowly. Good place overall.

There’s a balcony, and everything you need is close by. The place is amazing, with professional and welcoming people. TV, wifi, a big CLEAN bed, and a VERY CLEAN ROOM. Clean, clean, clean. You have to stay here!
