Hip Old Montreal Suites by Sonder

The room was spotless and the building felt safe. It’s easy to explore Old Montreal on foot, with tourist spots nearby, convenience stores close by, and the subway just two blocks away. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The room was decent and the location is great, but the service was awful. I wouldn’t stay here again. There’s no staff on site, so if nothing goes wrong it may be fine for most people, but we had a serious problem with the fridge. It wasn’t working when we arrived around 9 in the evening, and all the food we’d brought for our three-day stay went bad. I reported it through the app soon after we got there, which was the only way to reach anyone. Maintenance showed up sometime the next afternoon and told me the fridge was fine. It wasn’t. We came back with more food and that spoiled too. During the app messages, I was told management would get in touch about it, but nobody ever did. I kept asking about our claim for weeks after the stay, and each digital representative gave me a different story. After a lot of back-and-forth through the app, I was told management wouldn’t reimburse us for anything. Quite the world we live in these days.

We came from Toronto for a conference and were thrilled with our stay at SONDER Le Victoria Apartments in Old Montreal, at 411 Rue des Recollets. Our apartment was stylish, cozy, comfortable, and impeccably clean. We’d absolutely stay here again on our next Montreal trip. There was room for six, with two large queen beds, one in each bedroom, plus a double pull-out couch in the living room. It had the comforts of home, along with a dishwasher, microwave, fridge, stove, front-loading washer and dryer, bedding, towels, pillows, and a few extras. The location was central and right downtown in Old Montreal. Five Guys Burger was just a two-minute walk away, which was perfect. If you haven’t tried a SONDER location, I highly recommend it. Five out of five, and honestly I’d give it ten for the price, location, and whole experience.

The building looks lovely from the outside, and the location is a 10 out of 10. It’s very central, so you can walk pretty much anywhere. For a one-night stay, especially if the room is on sale, it’s a good amount of space. I can’t picture staying there for a week, though. I’ve stayed at other Sonder properties and expected better upkeep here. My studio had a tiny window, scuffed walls, and wasn’t cleaned very well. There were crumbs on the coffee table and the rug by the bed was dirty. Thank goodness I had socks on. The kitchen and bathroom were cleaner. The bed was hard, the pillows were too soft, and I woke up with neck pain.
