Montreal Marriott Chateau Champlain

The view from my room was panoramic and peaceful, a welcome break from everyday bustle. I also appreciated the hardwood floors instead of carpet, and the room and rest of the Montreal Marriott were commendably clean. The staff were attentive and ready to help throughout my stay. Julienne at the front desk deserves a special thank you. She was adaptable and diligent in keeping things running smoothly, all while staying poised and positive.

The stay itself was nice, but getting my $400 security deposit back was a hassle. After two weeks, I called and was told it was on its way, but nothing arrived. When I followed up, they said there had been a bug and would send it now, though it could take another two weeks. I had to keep chasing them, and they hadn't emailed or called to tell me about the mistake. They didn't seem very apologetic either. I understand Canada allows 30 days for a deposit refund, but I've never had a hotel hold mine for more than three days. Having to inquire about it myself was pretty annoying.

We parked in the garage and there were lots of spaces available. The room was spacious, lovely, and had plenty of room for luggage, with great city views. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. We went to a concert at the Bell Centre, less than a five minute walk away. I'd stay here again.

The front desk staff went out of their way to bring us tea, an electric kettle, and chocolate, even though the kitchen was closed for the holiday. The valet was great too. We came to celebrate New Year's Eve without knowing where to stay, and were glad we picked Marriott Chateau Champlain. The room was spotless, roomy but cozy, with a top notch bed and bath. It's well located, and we'll look to stay here again next time we're in Montreal.
