For a summer trip to Montreal, this is a handy place to stay, especially with the subway right across the street and affordable dorms. The rooms are small but the beds are comfortable. Bathrooms were surprisingly clean, though the paper towel wasn't in its holder. You can hear noise through the walls, but they're thick enough that conversations don't carry. Towels and a bar of soap are provided. It's no luxury hotel, but if you've stayed in a Canadian university dorm, you'll be fine here.

For the same price, there are much better hotel options, and I wouldn't recommend Royal Victoria College Residence for anyone wanting a clean, comfortable stay. Our room was tiny, smaller than a walk-in closet, and smelled unpleasant. It was peak summer, and while no AC was understandable, there wasn't even a table fan. The shared washrooms were dirty, with pink mold-like growth around the edges. Two of the three on our floor had doors that didn't work, and the facilities felt dark and dingy. The stay was very disappointing.

Downtown is just a few steps away, which made this a great spot for a solo trip to Montreal. The room was small and cozy. Just be aware there’s no air conditioning in summer.

A solid budget choice right in downtown Montreal. I had a great stay, and the fan rental they offer was enough for me despite there being no AC.

Cynthia, Kate, and Zara gave great service during Grand prix week, and Gary was a big help too. The West wing being messed up was a disappointment: I didn't get the room I'd asked for, and there was no kitchen. The staff made up for it, but communication needs to improve. I hope the West Wing is ready next May.
