Tru by Hilton Montreal centre-ville

For the price, this was a really good stay, and the staff were friendly. The shared lobby area is a standout for families: lots of room, fairly quiet and private, with games, snacks for purchase, and a single-occupant washroom. The gym is about what you'd find in a decent apartment building, with a tower, two treadmills, an elliptical, dumbbells, and a few other things. The room was roomy enough, though smaller than many hotel rooms, and the bathroom was fine with a large walk-in shower. The blackout curtain worked great. The location is hard to beat, right across the street from an exit at Berri UQAM, where three metro lines meet. The bed was the weak spot. If the mattress was only a few months old, it already felt pretty soft, so I'm not sure how well it'll hold up. The frame also made a loud metal bang sometimes when I got in or out. I'd expect that at home or in an Airbnb, not from a professionally selected hotel bed.

I was in Montreal for a quick overnight trip. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff were helpful and accommodating. I missed breakfast because I didn't get up early enough, though it was included. The complimentary coffee and tea were surprisingly tasty.

Parking is the one drawback, since you have to use the paid Stationnement Indigo Montréal – Place Dupuis. Apart from that, Tru by Hilton Montréal is conveniently located and I'd happily come back. The hotel feels modern, clean, and comfortable, with very friendly staff. Breakfast is provided, and the underground gym was a nice extra.

We slept better here than I have in any hotel in years. I usually have trouble sleeping away from home, but the bed was comfortable and I got a genuinely restful night. The room was on the small side, though very clean and seemingly newly renovated. Getting around was easy: Chinatown, the metro, Mount Royal, and lots of Montreal's well-known spots are all within walking distance. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including eggs, milk, pancakes, sausages, bacon, fruit, yogurt, juice, bread, and more. The front desk made us feel welcome right from arrival. Everyone was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and one staff member in particular went out of his way for us. I wish I'd caught his name, because his kindness really made a difference. We had a fantastic stay and would gladly recommend the hotel.
