That breakfast sandwich was incredible, the best I’ve had. We stopped in this summer after staying at the Northern Rockies Lodge, and I loved Jack. He won’t fuss over you like someone in a big city, but he makes a great breakfast at a great price. Enjoy the grumpy manner and don’t take it personally.

The soup and homemade bread are the best, and the food is great. But why is Jack so grumpy and mean? It takes a lot to get my husband riled up, yet his rudeness had him fuming. It’s a shame that such a good place keeps getting reviews about the owner’s attitude.

Once the rush was over, people in the restaurant were chatting away. The owner can be brusque, as others have mentioned, but I think that comes with running a place like this. We all had eggs with bacon or sausage, plus homemade hash and toast from bread baked there that morning. It was a really good, no-frills Canadian breakfast, just what we’d been looking forward to on this trip.

On the Alaska Highway, this was the best breakfast we had. The portions were huge, the bread was homemade, and the simple rooms were clean. The location is breathtaking too. It’s a great overnight stop, and even if you’re not staying, try to stop for breakfast if you can. The owner’s quite a character and makes the visit entertaining.
