I've stayed here for work over the past 3-4 years, and the quality, service, and cleanliness keep getting better. For the price, location, and what they offer, this hotel is a serious gem. The rooms are basic, but they're spotless, with comfortable beds, loads of great pillows, and clean bathrooms stocked with plenty of towels. Staff from the desk, housekeeping, and food teams are all lovely and polite, and they go out of their way to keep guests happy. Breakfast is great, and the breakfast room is fantastic. The well-equipped fitness center kept me going for three days without needing to work out elsewhere. I travel a lot for work and really like this place. I'm giving four stars because there are some amenities I appreciate that they don't have as a three-star inn. That's just my point of view, not their fault.

My husband went to breakfast every morning and was really impressed with the food selection. The laundry room was clean, with new machines, and there was enough space in the workout room for two people to do mat workouts at once. It opened at 6 am, but the front desk staff kindly opened it a little earlier when I wanted to use it. We stayed Oct 22-Oct 29, and the staff exceeded our expectations. They welcomed us right away and made us feel at home. The front desk team were friendly, helpful, and interested in us, and they went above and beyond. Our room was incredibly clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We only needed it cleaned a few times, and they made sure we had enough coffee and bath products in between. We highly recommend the Best Western Northgate Inn in Nanaimo and will definitely return.

Devon Swann made this one of the best hotel stays I've ever had. I was amazed by how she helped with my bookings and points rewards program, and I'd wholeheartedly recommend anywhere she provides customer service. The customer service here was simply amazing, one of the best experiences I've had anywhere. Good job, @BestWestern Northgate, for hiring employees who make magic for their guests. The location is hard to beat, right beside the mall, galaxy cinemas, landmark cinemas, Home Depot, Walmart, Canadian Tire, and Superstore. I love the carpeted rooms and the great smell. My one complaint is the TVs in the dining room. I heard other people complaining, too. There's no escaping them, and lots of people don't want to watch the news while eating breakfast. Whatever happened to piano music and the sound of running water? Still a great place, and I'll be back!

I've been coming to Nanaimo for work for the past year and a half, and the front desk staff have been excellent. Shar and especially Devon have always taken great care of me. Devon is cheerful and professional, and makes sure I have a comfortable stay. I'll stay at the Northgate whenever I'm on the island. The service is hard to beat!
