Darlene made us feel welcome from the start. We had such a nice time chatting with her, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The practical side was fine: it’s quiet, we slept well until the host woke up, and the location works if you have a car and need to get to or from the ferries. Just leave time for a slow breakfast and checkout. I was glad we only booked one night while travelling through. It’s more like staying in a lady’s old-fashioned home than in a professionally run B&B. That isn’t automatically bad, but it can feel awkward if you want privacy and don’t want much interaction. The host was nice to us, though the very different reviews make sense to me; her manner seemed to depend on how you interacted with her. She came into our room while we were out to move pillows before bed, even though we’d already checked in and unpacked. At breakfast she sat beside us, which made me feel I had to keep making small talk and behave a certain way. When we came down 3-4 minutes after the agreed breakfast time, she remarked on it in a way that felt like being gently, but not very sincerely, scolded by an older relative. I felt more like I was visiting her than paying for independent accommodation. The retro furniture and decorations didn’t bother me, though the large plush panda with a torn ear struck me as a strange choice for the room. If those things don’t bother you, it’s a handy, quiet place to stay.

Freshly baked treats, flowers everywhere, birds outside, and breakfast made with care and attention to detail. Darlene was a wonderful host and made my wife and me feel at home. We’d definitely recommend the experience! 😊✨

The gardens and views are fantastic, and it’s a short walk to watch the sun set over the water. We had a nice walkout basement room with a king bed, and breakfast was healthy and tasty. Darlene was warm and friendly.

Darline was such a gracious host, and we felt treated like royalty. The place is beautiful and distinctive, with a romantic feel; even the room and dining room felt palatial. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and the lake view was gorgeous. 💮😊😍
