Peter was a terrific host and helped make sure we were comfortable. He also chatted with us about things to do nearby. The home is a gorgeous little oasis in Nanaimo, and after three nights there, we’ll certainly stay again next time we’re on the island. It’s tucked along a residential street, but mature trees surround the property and a long driveway leads up to the house, so it feels almost like being out in the country.

The suite has its own entrance and a door that locks, so the B&B feels both lovely and private. It’s in a quiet, wooded spot, and breakfast ranges from continental options to a full English.

Stay at your own risk. It was dirty and really outdated. Strange noises from outside and upstairs, where the owner’s family was, kept me from sleeping. There was also a really bad smell in the bedroom carpet.

A relative stayed here and found the food good and the room warm and private. The owners weren’t there at the agreed check-in time, but otherwise there was no trouble. There are three dogs upstairs.

The food was always delicious, especially the mushrooms. The room was clean, and the staff were really nice and good for a morning chat.
