The Bluebird Motel

The room itself was fairly clean, the towels and bedding were decent, and the Wi-Fi worked well. The manager was nice, parking was free and off street, and the location and price were good. The bathroom sink vanity was also the nicest-looking part of the room, though it felt out of place. There were plenty of problems too. Smoke from outside came in through worn or broken weatherstripping around the door and windows. The bed was worn enough that I could feel the springs, and the shower valve seemed partly broken, so it took care to operate with both hands. The wall AC was noisy and its filter looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The mini fridge and microwave were dated. This was Room 33, with two beds and no kitchen. I’d rate the stay 2.5/5.

There was a woman who seemed Indigenous, and she was really sweet and nice. The motel manager, though, was pretty rude. After midnight people were drinking and got very loud, with lots of yelling and screaming. It seemed like the manager did nothing about it. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The price felt high for what the room offered. The area was loud, the furniture was old, and most of the electrical outlets didn’t work. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and the room had some recent renovations.

The phone kept ringing past midnight, so I finally had to unplug it. Service was poor too: after the room was cleaned, they left no coffee, sugar, or anything else, and the woman in the office was away most of the time. The place gave me the impression of somewhere for homeless people. I can’t recommend it.
