If you're thinking of staying at VIU Res, be prepared for people who act like they're still in high school and the main characters. I've had guys complain when they're told they're being a nuisance. Housing management does literally nothing about reports of people being disruptive and chaotic during quiet hours. That's unacceptable and reflects badly on the housing management crew. I give it 1/5.

Both my kids attend VIU and live in student residence. The buildings were clean and quiet when I visited. They need more parking, especially for visitors.

There are no fans in the washrooms and no elevators, so you have to take the stairs and put up with the smell. The bedsheets and towels smelled so bad I couldn't sleep at all. If you're hoping for a joyful vacation, go somewhere else. Hope this helps.

There were lots of wild bunnies hopping around, which was pleasant to watch. The check-in staff were professional, friendly, and helpful, and the room was clean. But it was incredibly hot in August with no A/C, just a fan. The bed was all springs and not supportive, very bumpy. The key also took several tries to work in the lock and needs fixing.

Last year was amazing, which is why we came back for a second year, but this time all four nights were horrible. The summer camp teens were noisy and there were a lot of them. Security couldn't control them, and quiet hours weren't managed properly. Teens made noise in the evenings and construction started in the morning. It's not the construction alone that made the stay bad. If you want a peaceful place, this isn't it. It was disappointing and absolutely not worth the struggle, and I don't think we'll return.
