A La Gallarie

We spent a relaxing, quiet few days in this place off the beaten path. The pool was a godsend when the weather got hot, and we intend to come back. It made a fabulous spot for spending a few days in Niagara, with luxurious amenities and stunning views. We enjoyed exquisite dining and relaxed at the spa, making the last weekend of our trip feel especially special. What could be better than treating yourself to a 5-star hotel at that point?

The house is beautiful, the pool is good, and the location works well for cycling to shops and restaurants in Niagara On the Lake, as well as the butterfly Conservatory and gardens. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, with flat pillows, and the bathroom door was quite loud. Breakfast was disappointing for the price: reheated boxed feta rolls and a few packaged sausage pieces, with no juice and no milk for tea. The fruit bowl was the best part. We expected a better breakfast.

Diane, the owner and hostess, is absolutely lovely, and we're planning to come back. We had a fabulous few quiet, relaxing days in Niagara, staying off the beaten path. When the weather turned hot, the pool was a godsend.

A La Gallarie turned what began as an unfortunate double-booking at our first-choice place in Niagara-on-the-Lake into a memorable stay. Our host found us Diane at the last minute. We were a little disappointed to learn the property was a good 15-20 mins from town by car, since we'd pictured spending balmy afternoons and evenings wandering NOTL's leafy streets. Diane was so welcoming and friendly, though, and her home is a wonderfully restored 19th century pearl. The Uber trips back and forth for dinner were well worth the hassle. Having a pool in the back garden for a morning swim was a bonus, followed by Diane's superb breakfast of fresh fruit, fresh coffee, and fresh French toast. We really enjoyed our stay.
