Auberge Motel Godard

We started out a bit sceptical, but left quite happy. David and his wife Rose seem to enjoy their jobs. Our room was clean and fine, and the place is close to the cycling trail. The food was very good and reasonably priced, as was the Amarone wine, which was perfect.

The host was great, and they were flexible about check-in. The place was clean and warm, and breakfast was included. They called almost right after we checked out to let us know we’d forgotten our laptop, so we didn’t have to drive any farther. They also responded to calls quickly. I’d definitely stay again if needed.

The owner-operator is a sweet guy, and the free breakfast was good, but the motel is poorly maintained. The outside grass is overgrown, and the pool is closed and green, with grass growing around it inside the fenced area. The rooms are outdated and the air conditioner is very noisy. The restaurant listed on the website is closed apart from breakfast. There isn’t even a pop machine, so bring your own food. A private delivery service will pick up Subway for a reasonable $15, but be warned, they don’t speak English. This is really a budget place to sleep late at night, not somewhere to keep kids busy. It’s also too far from the bike trail to be convenient. Even biking from here takes over an hour, and there’s no restaurant within walking distance. There are lots of deer around, so drive carefully.

The decor is a little dated, but the room was clean and in good condition, and all the appliances worked, including the air conditioner. There was a microwave and mini fridge in our room. Food service and pool access weren’t available at the time because of COVID. The owner was kind and courteous. I’d absolutely come back for another stay.
