Auberge Le Coeur d'Or

That two-part breakfast was a real highlight, with fresh orange juice, good coffee, homemade crepes and fruit, then a soft-boiled egg, sausage, and a generous piece of fabulous cheddar from Megantic. At $140 per night for room and board for two, it felt worth the price. The Auberge also displays paintings by Helene Cliche for sale. I liked one enough to fall for it, but sadly it was marked SOLD 😞. Our room, Oeillet, was huge, spotless, and fresh, as were the sheets and towels. The common room was spacious, bright, and quiet. The Auberge Le Coeur d'Or is well situated downtown in North Hatley and has been around a long time. The senior owners, Carole and Dominique, look after both the property and their guests. The shower was tiny and old, like one in an old Paris, FR hotel. The decor could use an update to the paint, colors, wallpaper, and bed covers, while keeping the antiques atmosphere. NOTE: The owners stopped offering dining in Fall 2019. They've tried several times to get that information removed from online listings but haven't been able to.
