Hampton Inn by Hilton Ottawa Airport, ON, CN

I was in Ottawa on a business trip and stayed at the Hampton Inn for three nights. The neighborhood was quiet, with restaurants close by, and I liked the room. Housekeeping came every day, and the free buffet breakfast was good. My only hiccup was the Hilton app. I like using it for check-in and keyless entry, and although I checked in through the app, keyless entry wasn’t available. I had to go back to reception.

There are a few restaurants in the plaza right nearby, but this spot is definitely far from the city core and attractions. It’s a fine Hampton location. The rooms aren’t brand new, but they’re clean and comfortable, and breakfast was standard for Hampton. The staff were very friendly.

The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable, which is why I gave two stars. Tina at the front desk deserves one star or less. She was incredibly rude and unfriendly, and made check-in more difficult than it needed to be. She also made mistakes about which Visa was charged. I called two days later to ask about the charge and was rudely put on hold by Tina herself. That seems to be her daily attitude, not just a one-off.

Good service. The rooms are alright, clean and spacious. There’s a pool but no hot tub, plus a 24/7 coffee bar. Free breakfast has a waffle maker, but no halal options. There’s cable TV only, with no Netflix or YouTube.
