Hipwell's Motel

We won't stay here again until the problem is resolved. My boyfriend and I came for Saturday night after the Jesus festival, praise the Lord and all His glory. The service was pleasant. The wife was the person we dealt with, and she welcomed us with a warm smile and was friendly and helpful. The room needs work. It smelled musty and moldy when we walked in, and the open windows hadn't helped. The wall mirror looked like it was barely hanging on, and the bathroom didn't look clean. I showered with my socks on to protect my feet. I woke up with intense itching in the middle of the night. Later that day, we found bed bug bites all over my boyfriend, and some on me, though his were worse. We live 3.5 hours away and realized too late. I recommend the hotel shut down and clean the whole place.

Hipwell's staff were gracious and helpful, and people in Canada felt friendly and welcoming, a bit like Maui, where I'm from. I was on a two month motorcycle trip through the US and Canada, and from this modest, affordable, clean motel I could reach restaurants and tourist sites while still staying in the country rather than the city. I managed a Niagara Falls boat ride and visited two movie locations from Stephen King's The Dead Zone. I thought I'd reviewed this place after staying here in July of 2024.

This place is a garbage bin. The rooms are dirty, stinky, and smelly, and the mattresses have bedbugs. The owners don't seem to care about the property, only about getting a dollar for a room. It's disgusting and a joke. I'll call the region to make sure they get inspected.

Hipwell's is a modest hotel with very friendly service, affordable prices, and a comfortable bed that gave me a good night's sleep. I'd recommend it for a night or two if you're visiting near Niagara.
