Pemberton Hotel

The town is cute, the place was clean, and it cost less than Whistler, but I think I would’ve rather paid the extra $100 to stay there. It had more of a hostel vibe with hotel prices. We booked online, then at check-in were told a live DJ would be playing below our room until 2am and that we could pay to upgrade. If that kind of room isn’t available, I feel like an upgrade should be free. Even in the “upgraded” room, there was no soap or conditioner, the kettle was broken, and the outlet for the TV didn’t work, so we couldn’t use it. People upstairs were walking around at all hours, and we heard every step. It could’ve been worse, I guess, but if I’d read the reviews before my BF booked, I wouldn’t have let him book here haha. Probably worth just paying for Whistler accommodation.

We were passing through and this clean hotel worked perfectly for what we needed. The rooms are small, but that was fine. We were warned there might be noise from the bar on the main floor under the second-story rooms, but we didn’t hear any on Thursday night. I’d definitely stay again.

It was the only room in town under $500, otherwise I’d have stayed anywhere else. Drunks were wandering around outside late at night, and it took 20 minutes for anyone to show up at the front desk to check me in. The room smelled so strongly of human urine my nose was burning. Stains everywhere, and awful beds. It was either this or sleeping in my car, and next time I’d pick my car.

The rooms and bathrooms were clean, and the AC worked well. You get what you pay for, a clean room and a bed to crash in, with no bathroom fan. Some rooms get loud on weekends because of the bar beneath parts of the motel. It’s a good choice if cleanliness matters to you more than comfort or luxury, but I wouldn’t bring my kids. All in all, a positive experience.
