Penticton Lakeside Resort and Conference Centre

The hotel has great service and a good location, but it gets loud. We’ve stayed on the sixth floor of the west tower a couple of times, and both visits had people yelling late at night and again around 1 or 2 when the hotel bar closed. Friday and Saturday nights were noisy each time. It’d be nice if they could keep the drunk guests quiet after closing.

The lakefront location is fantastic, with restaurants all around, a nice lake walkway right outside the back door, and lots of lovely shops along cute Main Street. We had a great six-night stay and would go back. I liked the $15 restaurant card they give you when you skip room cleaning for a day. We didn’t need daily service, so I used the card for a free breakfast on the days we opted out. When we did request cleaning, the room looked fantastic. There’s a fridge, which was useful for leftovers, but no microwave in the room. The front desk brought one up when we asked, which was really helpful.

The main building rooms are very loud, and you can hear everything. They’re a decent size, though the beds are only okay. The beachside location is amazing, close to lots of town spots, and the pool is very large. In winter, there’s also an ice rink with a million dollar view. I’ll be back, but may try the newer building to see if it’s quieter.

The bar food was reasonably priced and pretty tasty, but this visit was a letdown after a great stay a few years ago. We had no hot water all weekend. Staff said it had to run for 5 or 10 minutes to reach our wing, which seems like a huge waste of water. The beds felt like they were from the '90s, and the heating system was very loud and swung between too hot and too cold.
