The hosts made us feel so welcome, and I loved the character of this historic building. Breakfast had just the right range of choices and was delicious. I’d happily come back if I’m in the area.

A doe and two fawns were out in the backyard, which was lovely to see. The building and rooms were nice, and the staff and fellow guests were friendly. The AC was a bit noisy, and breakfast was simple with limited options, though good. It’s well placed, about ten minutes from the PEI ferry, close to the harbour, and near plenty of places to eat. We had a pretty nice stay.

Breakfast was OK and the location worked well, but the room was a letdown. The outside looks nice, while indoors the rooms badly need updating. The furniture seemed like cheap secondhand pieces, not antiques. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, with plastic over the mattress and only a very thin cover. I found that horrible.

There’s a lovely little deck with a table and chairs for sunny weather, and the owner was very helpful. This charming inn dates back to the early 1930s, when it was built as a hotel. Breakfast was a nice continental spread, especially the freshly made fruit salad. Just keep in mind there’s no elevator.

The owner runs this place and brings a real sense of Maritime hospitality. Rooms are simple and clean, with what you need, and the inn has the feel of a modest old travel lodge meant to give a tired traveller a bed. That’s what I like about it. It’s a beautiful, cozy inn, a reminder of the traditional bed and breakfast that can get lost among long chains of “Vacation Inns.” It isn’t a fancy 3-star hotel, and places like this deserve our support if we want to preserve the small-town feel instead of having it taken over by big chains.
