This place has a lot of potential, but it needs some basic, thoughtful upkeep. The shared deck is nice, though a couple of chairs would make it usable. There’s mold around the bathtub that needs attention, and the bathroom door is warped, so we had to wedge a towel in the frame to keep it shut. The window AC has broken plastic wrap being used to keep out water and wind. Guests also had to go buy their own Kleenex, a first for me. The room has a little sink but no coffee or tea maker, just a microwave; the shared coffee maker, kettle, and microwave sit in the vestibule between two rooms, making noise and partly blocking suitcase access. It wouldn’t take much to improve things, just some low-cost basics.

I spent six nights at the Revere Executive Apartments in Pictou, Nova Scotia, during a very difficult time for my family, and I’ll be calling Shelby again when I need to return. She was amazing, arranging a suitable place for my brother and me on just a day’s notice and making the stay as stress-free as possible. The apartment met all our needs: two bedrooms, quiet, comfortable large beds, dressers and closet space, a top-of-the-line washer-dryer combo, fast Wi-Fi, and a well-equipped kitchen with utensils, dishwasher, full-size fridge and oven, kettle, and coffee maker. There was also a comfortable sofa and chair, a much-needed hot shower, and a beautiful bathroom. The TV seemed top-notch, though we never turned it on. It’s right in the heart of Pictou, within easy walking distance of everything, with a stunning view over the water. The stairs to the upper apartments are steep, but that’s a small price for the view. I know people can be skeptical of online reviews, but I’m proud to put my name to this one.

There was nowhere to hang clothes, with no closet or hooks, which was my only complaint. Otherwise, it was a great night at very good value. The room had clearly been renovated recently and was bright and very clean, with fresh paint, modern fixtures, and clean, comfortable, pretty bedspreads.

The radiators were putting out heat while the AC was trying to cool the room, and the floors were dirty. Those were my two complaints. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable, the Wi-Fi was good, and the staff were kind and accommodating. A nice place to stop between Sydney and Halifax.
