Swept Away Inn

The shared bathroom and how warm the bunk could get were the only things we hadn’t expected. It makes sense for a place like this, and you can leave your door open onto the private deck to catch the cool Alberni air at night. Daniel serves a flawless breakfast in the morning, with boats bobbing outside in the sparkling summer water. His wife, Bouchra, is a talented chef at the phenomenal restaurant up the street, and lovely to be around. Daniel personally shows you to your bunk, sometimes actual bunk beds like sailors use. They’re well kept and still feel true to life at sea. From the moment you board until it’s time to head back to reality, this is a neat and memorable hotel concept. The other guests were warm and welcoming too, and you can sit on deck for a drink and a chat. You might see seals or eagles, but you’ll definitely have a good time. Highly recommend it to anyone!

As a solo traveller, I felt safe and welcome, and I liked meeting the other travellers over breakfast. I stayed one night and enjoyed sleeping on a boat. I hadn’t expected a fancy room; a bed and sink gave me what I needed. Just remember the bathroom is shared.

The rooms are tidy, the beds comfortable, and the hosts are lovely. They make a real effort to welcome everyone, and the service is great. It’s a fun, unusual spot if you like adventure, meeting people, and delicious homemade food. We’ll definitely return.

Food was awesome, and communication was prompt. Their booking software worked great, and we came away with amazing photographs and memories from an exciting stay. Dan and his close family crew connected with each of us and gave excellent support with our needs. The service was excellent, and the food was truly spectacular. I was lucky enough to spend a week road tripping with my 75-year-old mother and her best friend. They both have some mobility impairments, so I wasn’t sure a boat would suit them, but they were ready for an adventure. It turned out better than awesome. The Swept Away crew clearly know how to run this B&B well and are in it for the long run. We all give it five stars and highly recommend Swept Away.
