Terra Nova Golf Resort

The pub was a bright spot, with fantastic food and service. But the rooms feel stuck in the 70s, and the back nine greens weren't maintained well, which was disappointing. We also found the pool, hot tub, and steam room out of service. Only the sauna was open, and nobody mentioned that before booking or at check-in. The wharf was broken and boarded off, too. This place could be great, but right now the hotel and golf course aren't worth the trip, effort, or price.

The course and setting are beautiful, but our stay was a terrible experience. The resort needs an overhaul, and it feels like the potential is there if the place were managed and maintained better. You also can't book tee times online, which nearly all golf courses offer now. I left really disappointed.

The staff were excellent, but we were so disappointed that we couldn't wait to leave. My wife and I were travelling across the Island, and this stay was a huge letdown. At check-in there were signs saying there was no TV and the pool was shut for the season. Because we had our 5lb dog, they put us in a dark, stinky basement room beside the staff lunchroom and laundry, and charged an extra $30. Our dog is far cleaner than that outdated dungeon. The “dog friendly” room had stained, dirty carpets, while rooms upstairs had click flooring. The sliding door wouldn't lock, so a piece of wood was wedged in to keep it closed, and our room door wouldn't shut when we left. There were only two plugs, one for the clock radio and one for a light over the bed. No hairdryer, and neither restaurant had menus on the website. I went for coffee the next morning and got two cold cups. My wife brought them back; they said the machine was having issues and replaced both without a problem. If we had the choice again, we'd have refused to stay. There are way better places that are clean and considerate of paying guests. I'd tell others to just drive by.

The pool was nice, and everything was clean. Staff were really friendly. The hotel is good, though it could use some updating, and the golf course is beautiful.
