Econo Lodge Macpuffin

It's quiet and in a great location, so it worked for a night's rest. The shower pressure was fantastic. The rooms need more than an update, though: there's no air conditioning, the pool wasn't running, the beds sag a bit in the middle, and the pillows weren't great.

Only stayed because there was nowhere else available. The room smelled of smoke and felt very dated.

I've stayed here many times for hockey trips without an issue, but this visit changed that. The night clerk was quick to move us when my room had a heating problem, and she came by twice to try to fix it in the new room too. She did her best, but it still only got to 70 degrees, so we slept in our hoodies. When I mentioned it at checkout, the day clerk said she'd call Irving to look into it, but didn't apologize. The night staff had apologized. Because of the day clerk's poor customer service, I won't stay here again.

The ocean view is small, and there aren't restaurants nearby, just an A&W. When I arrived, I saw an old hotel across the road and asked about it at check-in. I was told that's where we were staying, and when I said it looked abandoned, the clerk said they needed to paint the rooms. Paint is only part of it: the flooring and bathroom need work, and the cleaning wasn't good, with bugs and webs in the corners. I wasn't impressed.
