If all you need is a bed for the night, it may do. Our door wouldn't lock from outside, so we had to take our things whenever we left. The Wi-Fi didn't work and the shower leaked. There was complimentary coffee for one night, but not for two or three.

We could hear about the state of most rooms because our company had booked the whole motel, and some rooms were worse than others. The beds were terrible and the bedding barely washed. Most rooms had a musty, odd smell. There is AC and the basic amenities. You can get through a stay if you have to, but spending a little more somewhere else seems worth it. I wouldn't pay more than $70 for a room here.

The view behind the hotel is incredible, but the property has been allowed to deteriorate badly. We arrived around midnight after a last-minute booking, exhausted and leaving early the next day. I work in hospitality and didn't expect luxuries, just a clean place to sleep. We lasted about five minutes before deciding the car would be cleaner and more comfortable. The bathroom was filthy, and the shower curtain was rotting and covered in mold. The bathroom linens looked dirty and were poor quality. There were too many things plugged into the electrical outlets, which seemed like a fire waiting to happen. The walls were stained and webbed, and the floors were so dirty I wouldn't walk on them in socks. The bed was the last straw. The coverlet looked from the 80s, which I could have overlooked if it was clean. Under it were cheap sheets that didn't fit the double mattress. There was no fitted sheet, and the top sheet came off as soon as I sat down, exposing the hard, old mattress. I went to the front desk and asked for a refund, explaining that I knew it wasn't the clerk's fault but wouldn't sleep in such a dirty, run-down place. By the time I left the lobby, my boyfriend had already taken our bags to the car. Neither of us would stay another minute. I'll try to post photos so people can see what they're booking. Unless nearby hotels are all full, or you bring Lysol wipes and hazmat suits, I wouldn't go near this place again. It's a shame the property hasn't been fixed up to match that view. I wish I could buy it and make it beautiful. Hopefully someone will someday. The view is worth it. To the hotelier: guests deserve better. Charge $10 more a night and give people a clean place they'd want to return to. Good reviews could bring higher occupancy.

High winds stopped our hockey team and the parents from crossing the Canso Causeway, so we desperately needed somewhere to stay. They charged us $112 a night for a filthy, disgusting place. We were put in a smoking room, with a car air freshener hanging from a lamp to cover the smell of smoke, mold, and urine. There was blood along the box spring, a fire detector hanging down and not working, and paint bubbling by the window. Getting into the room was easy since it had an outside entrance and didn't need a room key. I slept horizontally in my winter jacket and boots, with my hoodie over my head, hoping to avoid bed bugs or lice. The room was infested, and the -31 winds blew through it like built-in air conditioning. The place was so vile even the bed bugs were complaining. It's a miracle this business hasn't been condemned. Still, it was the best ten minutes of sleep I've had in a while. Close your eyes and picture sleeping in a green bin in July. That's what staying here feels like.

The free Wi-Fi worked great, and I did get some sleep after a late check-in. The place has potential with upgrades, and it did the trick as somewhere to crash. But my online quote and reservation weren't honored, and I paid more. The Skye Lodge couldn't find my booking, even though I had a confirmation email. The listing said there'd be a microwave, which I was counting on for food, but there wasn't one, and the description wasn't very accurate. There was a strong smell in the room that I couldn't identify. I left the window open in late September and got chilly. The shower curtain needs replacing, and there was a visible hair in the tub at check-in. I wouldn't use the coffee maker because it needed a proper scrub. The mirrors were streaked and some bulbs didn't work. I'm easygoing and don't want to sound whiny, but the unknown smell was hard to deal with, and that dirty coffee machine was just wrong. I'd have liked a discount for the room features that were listed online but missing. With taxes included, $80 would feel more reasonable. Maybe housekeeping could put in a little more effort, though I'm sure they work hard. A few small improvements could make the room feel warmer. I wish them all the best in the future.
