Hampton Inn by Hilton Port Hope Cobourg

Getting in and out was easy, and the location was convenient for nearby amenities. My room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable. The staff were polite and attentive throughout, and check-in and check-out both went smoothly. A great option for either a work trip or a getaway.

We were in town for my cousin’s wedding at the Ganaraska Forest Centre and got a great accessibility room with a king bed, large bathroom, and free breakfast. The room itself was pristine. Housekeeping only comes every other day, though, so after our two-day stay we didn’t have towels or face cloths for day two, and the second-floor hallways were filthy. Fix that and this would be a perfect overnight stop off the 401. Also, everything shuts at 9 p.m., so eat before then or you may go hungry.

The staff were wonderful, but I couldn’t wait to leave after one night and was out shortly after 6:30 a.m. The bed was very uncomfortable and made a loud noise whenever I moved. When we came back from an event, the room had a lingering body odor smell, possibly coming through the vents. The heating unit fan rattled so badly that we turned it off, and we could hear every movement and conversation in the hallway. The old TVs had poor picture quality and no channel guide. Breakfast was disappointing and went in the garbage. This was the least comfortable hotel stay I’ve had.

I stay here nearly every week because it’s close to work. The front desk staff are friendly and easy to deal with, but the rest of the hotel and its services have been disappointing. On my last few visits, the parking lots and driveways were buried in snow, with no sign of removal or maintenance. Air circulation in the rooms and hallways is awful, and rooms often smell of the previous guest’s body odor and other lingering odors. I’ve tried different rooms over time, and the mattresses all seem to sag badly in the middle. Most need replacing.
